Meet the Artist
Hello, I’m Ine Beerten, I’m an artist from Belgium. In the spring of 2023 I decided to take my art into a new direction by combining my love for illustration and travel… And Somewhere in the Wild was born!
For quite a few years I mainly focused my creative work on art for greeting cards working with a range of wonderful clients who licensed my work. I enjoyed the work very much but in 2021 I felt the need for a sabbatical after the pandemic left me feeling uninspired and in a creative slump. So I packed my bags and started traveling, spending time in Portugal where I volunteered on organic farms, and traveling around in Spain, Bali, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
Creative new beginnings
In the summer of 2022 I slowly started to work on my art again (while still traveling) after a break of more than a year. Initially I started with the greeting cards again but there was also an itch to try something new, something more exciting and free. Though it wasn’t until the spring of 2023 when the opportunity truly arose to experiment a bit and try my hand at travel illustration!
This new direction has been very exciting for me! It’s been wonderful to explore new creative horizons. It’s been a challenge and a big opportunity to grow and even in a very short time I’ve seen my work evolve immensely. I’m happy with the direction it’s going and I have no doubt it will take me to interesting places creatively!
Digital art
My art is hand drawn, digitally on an ipad. For me working digitally has many advantages. It is a medium that is very practical while traveling, no need to carry heavy paper, big canvases or worry that my tubes of paint will explode in the plane.
